CIA under lawsuit for piracy

Apparently a company is suing the CIA or the people they contracted to have the targeting systems installed into the Preadator drones we all know of. The company used a "hacked" version of the original targeting system that was designed by a different company. The "hacked" version is known to be incomplete or faulty as the targeting system can miss by as much as 40 ft off the intended target. The complete and very interesting read can be found here.

So I got job recently and I have been in orientation this whole week and man its tiring. I can't go into too much detail about my work but today in orientation we learned how to handle violent situations and taking people down with a team (COME AT ME BRO). So far it has been a very informative week and it has exhausted me thus the less amount of posts I have been doing. I'm thinking of making this blog a work experience or vent blog so maybe I'll do that.

You can put in your characters name and see what rewards you are entitled to in Guild Wars 2. Head on over to the Hall of Monuments Calculator which can be found here.

If you haven't played Guild Wars. I suggest you pick it up. You can get the trilogy plus the Eye of the North expansion for cheap on their online store or through your local video game shop. The PvP in the game is awesome and the story is great. Not only that but if you were planning on picking up Guild Wars 2, you can still work towards some awesome rewards!

So T-Mobile has a new phone on their lineup. Its the HTC G2. It's an android phone so you would expect good things like open source and stuff right? Well the new one has a hardware chip implanted inside so if you wanted to root it, it will reinstall the original firmware. Basically it will delete all the changes you want to do to it. This is pretty lame as people liked using android phones in their own custom ways. Basically you are stuck with what you bought with no way to cater it to what you like. Awesome.

So OnLive just announced that their service is now going to be free. It used to be at around 15 dollars a month. For those not familiar with OnLive, they created this service for people who don't have very powerful systems or want to try games before buying them. the OnLive service lets you play games that you normally would not be able to run on your computer and play it. It also lets you play some console games on your PC. They originally had a subscription but now have changed that to free.

edit: you can also spectate people playing too. which is awesome in its own way haha.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow comes out tomorrow! If you didn't know, Hideo Kojima, the master behind the Metal Gear Solid series also worked in this game. The game is going to come out for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 so no fanboyism here. Both parties will be able to enjoy this awesome game.

On a side note for all you World of Warcraft players out there, it has been announced that the new expansion World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is going to be released this December. I haven't gone on my account in a while but I am thinking of it so I can enjoy some of the content in Cataclysm. Plus the new reworked classes and changed environments is going to be insane.

The Goldilock's zone got its name because its an area in space that is just right. Not too far from a star and not too close either. Basically a similar situation as our planet Earth. Well astronomers have discovered a planet that is in that zone in space. This planet is very very similar to Earth and is a possible candidate for the first planet we will see to harbor life. Who knows, maybe they have cellular beings as their most complex life, or they can have the equivalent of the Protoss from Starcraft 2. Either way this is EPIC.

Facebook movie called Social Network comes out tomorrow (midnight tonight)

With Facebook being one of the biggest things to hit the internet, this movie is going to attract a lot of people. I myself am interested in this film. Of course its not real, of course its hollywood-ized, but it should be semi-cool I hope. Some theaters are going to release it at midnight so if you wanted to see it, its always awesome to watch it on midnight release instead of friday to free up the friday night for other activities.

On an unrelated note,

I decided to first get a motorcycle instead of the Toyota Trueno and Monte Carlo I mentioned a few days ago. I always have wanted a bike and figured it would be awesome to buy one in winter where it might be cheaper due to the lower demand. The bike I might get is the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. I did some research and apparently its one of the best if not the best beginner motorcycle out there. I always knew what the Ninja was but the styling of the body was not that bad ass in the older generations. Kawasaki changed it up and now have the latest generation (2008-2010) models and it looks awesome.

NOT the bike I'm talking about but OMG

As for my IT or Game design dream, I read some of the comments and have decided IT might be a better route. Game design seems to hard to get into right now while IT is attainable and just as fun. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Thinking about getting into Game Design or Information Technology

Okay so both of my main interests if it wasn't obvious enough is Information Technology and Video Games. I have been thinking of starting up a serious self study of one of those subjects. I did a little research and getting a job in IT is a little easier than getting a job in game design. That and with the IT, you only need some certifications and experience and you might get work as opposed to game design where you will have to have a degree most likely. This to me makes IT seem a little more easier to do. That and you can become a Certified Ethical Hacker in the IT field which is getting certified to go ninja on the internet, which is badass.

On the other hand, game design, while harder to get into will be sweet too. Making awesome games and having people enjoy them will be cool. With the new trend in Indie games and stuff, it seems getting into this would be easier than before where it was more the major companies in the field of gaming. What do you guys think? Which do you think is cooler?

Federal Law enforcement agencies are trying to pass new regulations that will let them have the ability to essentially intercept all communications in the internet. Not only that, they want this wire tap capability to be implemented by all companies that give a communication service through the internet (Skype, Aim, etc.) Since some of those communications use encryption, the U.S. government wants to have decrypting capabilities in between communications implemented to that they can easily intercept the data.

One of the key things with this though is not only is it the obvious infringing on our privacy and rights. But it creates huge backdoors and security holes for hackers to take advantage of. A hacker can use those interception and decryption implementations and cause havoc on the internet. This regulation, if passed is kind of like the ACTA where they can seize your stuff with speculation of owning copyrighted materials. Also they can search you on the basis of just speculation.

Comcast finally fixed my internet!!!

Okay so I haven't been able to blog as much as I would like due to the random disconnects of my modem. Comcast came in and found some messed up gear outside (cables etc) and replaced them. The tech wasn't an outsourced contractor either so he knew his shit. Pretty awesome customer service from the tech and pretty fast assessment of the issue too. Even changed the layout of the menu for my T.V. so it looks even more bad ass. Here I was expecting fail but no, so, THANKS COMCAST. literally you win the internets

XOS 2 Robotic exoskeleton suit is Iron Man in beta

The XOS 2 made by Raytheon Company is using half the power of the first generation of the XOS 1. From the looks of the video, it is still running on power from a line and isn't fully portable just yet but they are setting their goal to power usage of 20% of the original XOS 1. Pretty insane stuff. This is like Iron Man in beta. We will see the first Master Chief pretty soon in the coming years.

On a side note, it is getting close to Halloween 2010 so you guys should check out http://halloween-costume-ideas2010.blogspot.com/ for costume ideas and other stuff! I'm still looking for a costume but I want this year to be epic.

As for me not posting as much as I used to (2-4 a day), my internet has been disconnecting on and off for a while this past weekend and its really bothering me. I have looked through all the diagnostics for my router and modem and it seems that the signal from the Comcast lines outside are too weak and makes my modem disconnect. Tech is coming later today to fix it hopefully so you will see more posts from me. Have a good day everyone!

Toyota Sprinter (SportsCarForums)

Okay I have been thinking of getting a cool old school ride. I have been looking at either the 1979 Monte Carlo or the 1986 Sprinter Trueno (Corolla GTS).

Both cars to me are awesome. The Trueno was Takumi's car in Initial D the anime and also one of the favorite cars of the Drift King himself. Also it looks so cool and the 4age engine is just crazy. On the other hand you got the Monte Carlo, although not as iconic as the Trueno to me, it's just a bad ass looking car. First time I ever thought this vehicle was beautiful was in the movie Training Day starring Denzel Washington. His character was a corrupt bad ass cop and that was the car he drove.

Comcast internet keeps going offline

My internet keeps getting cut off every 10 - 20 minutes. This is horrible I can't even blog and sometimes it will get cut off for more than a few hours. I have no idea why this is going on. I suspect they're doing maintenance or something for my area but this is nuts. I will try to blog more as soon as my internet connection is more stabilized. Look out for my Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps review and also this movie got me interested again into the whole stocks and trading stuff so look out for some stuff with that. Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps (Tomorrow!!!!)

I loved Wall Street (1987). It starred Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. The new apprentice it seems in the sequel is Shia LaBeouf. It seems that Gekko is out of jail and from what the trailer shows, is trying to make mad money once again in wall street. Comes out tomorrow September 24 2010.

Red Dead Redemption: Liars and Cheats and Upcoming Games

I should have mentioned this already but I guess I haven't. If you play Red Dead Redemption, then you definitely would like to get the new DLC called Liars and Cheats. Why? It adds more map locations, new weapon, and more character avatars for your guy. Not ONLY that but my favorite thing in the DLC is the fact that you can play the Poker and the Liar's Dice finally in a multiplayer format. YES, you can now play Poker against your friends online in Red Dead Redemption. I love Poker and this was one of the fan requests for the next DLC and Rockstar has delivered it.

Like to travel around the world? Ever wondered what its like to fly like a bird? Ever wanted to travel around the world AS A BIRD? my answer = all of the above. I was going through Gizmodo and found this. Todd Reichert and a team of students have finally made a man made bird. No, not like a plane, I mean, yes like a plane but with wings that actually FLAP. It's called the Snowbird ornithopter and here is the clip of it in flight. None before have succeeded in making an ornithopter fly but Todd and the team from University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies has done it.

The ornithopter is powered by man power ALONE. Reichert had to work out and train just to be able to fly it for the short duration it was in the air. Sadly it is reported that Reichert said that this will probably never be flown again. :( I was hoping this was the future too.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Trailer (TGS 10')

Deus Ex and Deus Ex: Invisible War are some of the coolest games out there. In the Deus Ex series, you can choose multiple way to solve problems. You can open a door through brute force, hacking, or maybe even by tricking someone to just let you in. Freedom. Back then, most games didn't have this open style of play so it was a pretty awesome/revolutionary feature. Now Eidos Interactive is coming out with the third game in the series which is actually a prequel to the first one. It's called Deus Ex: Human Revolution. There are a couple of trailers out there but this one is my favorite because of its cinematography and feel.

There's two of the same trailer out there. There is the Japanese version, and the English version. Which one do you think is better?

I prefer the Japanese version, something about their voice acting is just so awesome. Both are pretty damn bad ass though.

Reapers, Battlecruisers and Siege Tanks are pretty freaking OP. Patch 1.1.0 is the patch to nerf the Terrans and so far, I like what I am seeing. Haven't played with the new patch yet but from the patch notes, I can tell this will be much better for the Protoss and especially the Zerg.

• Ground damage decreased from 10 to 8.

• Bunker

• Build time increased from 30 to 35.

• Reaper

• Build time increased from 40 to 45.

I was browsing Kotaku when I saw an article on Inception. Inception was awesome, you know it, I know it. Now Variety says that Christopher Nolan is planning on making a videogame based on his 750$ million dollar making movie. My favorite movie and my favorite hobby combined? (see reaction below). I can't wait. If you haven't seen this movie yet, son, I am disappoint.

Guild Wars 2 on your Iphone?

I don't own an Ipad or an Iphone but this is pretty awesome news from ArenaNet. Basically they are saying that even when you are not playing Guild Wars 2, you can still communicate and chat with your guild mates or your friends in game using the Ipad, Iphone, or an Android phone. Can't join the raid but still want to stay in touch and check your guild's progress? now you can do that. Your friend at work and you want to show him the latest item you got? you can do that too. You can also for example help your friends if they're lost and guide them on the map from your phone. That's some Gandalf type stuff if you ask me. The article also hints at other stuff that will be possible (playing from your phone?!)

What is Guild Wars 2?

I can't wait for Guild Wars 2's release. If you don't know what Guild Wars is, its a MMORPG with NO monthly payments. Not only that, but the pvp in Guild Wars is awesome compared to other MMO's. The main drawback of the first Guild Wars was that everything was instanced. They have changed that in Guild Wars 2 and it will be more similar to your WoW where areas outside of towns are still open and only dungeons and raids are instanced.

Riot Games just released the new Champion Spotlight for the new hero called Sona: The Maven of the Strings.

Abilities:(Taken from the League of Legends site)

Hymn of Valor: Sona plays the Hymn of Valor, granting nearby allied champions bonus Damage and Ability Power. Additionally, casting this ability sends out bolts of sound, dealing magic damage to the nearest two enemy champions or monsters.

Aria of Perseverance: Sona plays the Aria of Perseverance, granting nearby allied champions bonus Armor and Magic Resist. Additionally, casting this ability sends out healing melodies, healing Sona and a nearby wounded ally.

Song of Celerity: Sona plays the Song of Celerity, granting nearby allied champions bonus Movement Speed. Additionally, casting this ability energizes nearby allies with a burst of speed.

Crescendo (Ultimate): Sona plays her ultimate chord, forcing enemy champions to dance, taking magic damage over time.

Power Chord: After casting 3 spells, Sona's next attack deals bonus magic damage. Additionally, Sona's Auras persist for 3 seconds after deactivating and set off a 2 second global cooldown.

I love playing support heroes, especially Zilean, Janna, and Taric. This is going to be an awesome champion addition to the already awesome support cast in the game. Time to farm up that IP!

Fall is here and you know what that means, static, static everywhere. I for one hate it when I get shocked because its not the pain, its the surprise that gets me. Well last year I bought my Mom one of these from Pentel and it seems to work. It's called the Static Electricity Eliminator and you put it on the object you want to eliminate the static from and it absorbs it. Pretty awesome.

WOW. I haven't had a grilled cheese in a LONG time and even then, I was satisfied with your average school grilled cheese on white bread but this is heaven. Time to go into the kitchen and make my own bootleg version of this.

Okay, so I have watched all of series 1 and series 2 of The Inbetweeners. For the people who don't know what the show is about, its a story of 4 high school kids in England living, well you know, through high school. Their adventures through life and the general randomness and hilarious dialogue is just so well written. You HAVE to watch at least one episode. Now I knew that a series 3 was coming up but man I didn't know that it already came out! It started on Sept. 13. Living in the states sucks because I can't go on http://www.e4.com/inbetweeners/ to watch because that site is only for people in the UK :(

If you're into UK comedy, The Inbetweeners is too good to pass up and I suggest you to watch it. LIKE NOW.

If you've played DotA on Warcraft 3, then you will be familiar with League of Legends (LoL for short). The game is played with two teams spawning on opposite ends of the map. The goal of the game is to get to your opponents base and kill their Nexus. There are a couple of characters or champions to use and each one has a unique feel and skills. The fun is in the different types of champions you can use and how you can combine them with your team so that you can win. Here's the best part, ITS FREE. YEAH. FREE.

I have been playing this game since closed beta and it has come a long way. They added so many skins for the champions (the only things you have to purchase with real money.) There are 2 maps (5 v5 and 3v3). Its an awesome game and is more geared towards casual players and beginners of the DotA type games. So don't worry, its not as hardcore as DotA where you have some random guy yelling at you ALL the time. They also update weekly and have new champions/characters come out ever 2 weeks or so. I am making a tutorial series on youtube soon explaining these more in detail so that beginners can understand how to play so be on the lookout for it.

Vindictus (Early Open Beta)

One of the things I love to play are free MMOs. A particular one caught my eye. Its name, Vindictus. Called Mabinogi Heroes in Korea, this game is currently in early open beta. It is hosted by Nexon and as of right now, you need a key to get into the early open beta.

The gameplay is similar to an action rpg where you hack and slash in dungeons (think DDO). You get some quests in town, you make a group, you enter a dungeon, and you kick some ass.

The graphics are pretty awesome and the controls are very easy and intuitive. Currently there are only 2 characters to choose from and more are probably going to be unlockable later on. I haven't got THAT far into the game to give a more thorough article on the game but from what I have played so far, its pretty fun.

If you haven't got into the early open beta yet, ask around from people who are in if they have a spare key. Its worth to note that a key, when given to someone, can generate 2 keys.
